AI Loops:
How Interconnected AI Models Will Shape Our Future

Loop 1: Foundational AI and Humans

You may have heard of the term "human-in-the-loop," where humans interact with AI systems to refine and guide their outputs. Currently, we see this in action with conversational AIs like ChatGPT (based on GPT-4, a foundational model). This collaboration between humans and AI is how we work together today, but it's only the beginning.

Example: A student uses an AI assistant to help with homework. The AI provides explanations, and the student asks follow-up questions, leading to a better understanding of the subject through a conversational loop.

Loop 2: Foundational AI and Enterprise AI

Specialized proprietary AI models are becoming essential to businesses as companies use AI to automate processes, develop strategies, and unlock deep insights. Here, foundational AI models may loop with enterprise models directly, removing the human from the process of creating novel outputs and business decisions.

Example: A retail company might use a foundational AI model to analyze massive datasets of consumer behavior. By looping it with their proprietary sales models, they can automate inventory management and create personalized marketing campaigns.

Loop 3: Foundational AI and Personal AI

The future lies in personal AI, where individuals create their own AI models based on their personal data. These models may store a professional body of work, personal beliefs and preferences, creative ideas and insights, hopes, dreams, memories etc, making them an incredibly precious repository of personal identity and individual economic value.  Individuals will be empowered and incentivized to loop their own models with both foundational and enterprise models.

Example 1: A photographer creates a personal AI model based on her life's work of photographs. She licenses this model to an online magazine to generate new images in her distinctive style for their specific needs.

Example 2: An actor develops a personal AI model using all his footage and sound clips. He then licenses his model to an advertising company to generate new commercials featuring him without the need for physical presence.

Example 3:
Consider a famous deceased musician whose estate creates a personal AI model based on all of their recorded music. This model is used to compose new songs posthumously, allowing fans to experience new works from the artist.

See at bottom for 100 examples of Personal AI that I generated using a foundational reasoning model.

Loop 4: AI Networks and the AI Ecosystem

Envision a future where AI networks include all three types of models—foundational, enterprise, and personal—all interconnected and "communicating" with each other to make decisions. These smaller networks will eventually scale into an AI ecosystem: a constellation of diverse AIs interacting to create outputs and decisions based on an immense plurality of data and algorithms.

Example: In a smart city, traffic systems use foundational AI models for real-time data analysis, enterprise AI models from transportation companies for route optimization, and individual AI models from citizens for personal preferences. Together, they create an efficient mass transit system that adapts to everyone's needs.
